Fluoride
A binary compound of Fluorine with another element; gaseous, solid, or dissolved compounds containing fluorine that result from industrial processes. Fluoride combines with tooth enamel to render it less soluble in acid environments and fluoride compounds are added to public water supplies to prevent tooth decay. Excessive amounts in food can lead to Fluorosis. Fluorine is a halogen with the chemical symbol F.
