The theme of the Congress is Engineering Education for Sustainable Development.
The workshop will address fundamental scientific and technological challenges in the utilization of pre-consumer organic waste as an alternative feedstock for the production of chemicals, polymers and additives as well as conversion to energy.
Maximizing efficient water use is critical for both the environment and the bottom line for industry. This workshop will bring together downstream production leaders and water tech experts to discuss water efficiency and water treatment solutions.
The event is a follow-on from the 2009 workshop held in Lausanne, Switzerland. Sister engineering societies, AIME, AIChE and ASCE, are also involved in the planning again as well.
This 1.5 day Workshop, funded by the United Engineering Foundation (UEF), will identify technical challenges and gaps and examine custom technical solutions for an efficient and sustainable food supply chain.
The symposium focused on new economics, which reflect the impact of processes on natural resources, and investigated development, consumer attitudes, and venture capital interest in new biopolymers.
