· (1979-1982) Ph D Thesis.
· (1983-1991) He has been leading a research group in the Basque Country University (UPV-EHU) on Chemical Reaction Engineering (3 Researchers).
· (1991-2003) From June 1991 to october 2003 he has been leading a research group in the University of Cantabria (ETSIIyT) named DEPRO Chemical and Environmental Processes Development (aprox. 10 researchers)
· (2005-now) Starting from 2005 a research unit named SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION at a regional level (Cantabria) (SOSPROCAN, aprox 20 researchers), based on three main topics: 1. Process Intensification. 2. Process Integration, and 3. Innovation in the production (processes) and consumption (products) according to sustainability
Projects: Coordinator of more than 50 international, national, regional and industrial research projects. 12 in the last 10 years.
Patents: Three Spanish patents referred to waste treatment, ecoinnovative processes for calcium fluoride recovery and wastewater treatment.
PhD supervision 17 PhD students in the last 10 years (2006-2015)
