Dr. Joseph J. Cramer is currently Director, Technical Programming, for AIChE, a position he has held since 1994. In this capacity he works with AIChE’s National Program Committee to develop content for AIChE national meetings. Previously, he had more than 20 years experience with Stone and Webster Engineering as an environmental engineer, project manager and program manager. He also worked with Brown & Root and Bechtel as an air quality engineering department head. Dr. Cramer has extensive experience both as an expert witness and in managing others who present expert testimony. During his many years in industry, Dr. Cramer helped to develop a training program for those whose work assignments were likely to require the preparation and presentation of expert testimony. With an attorney colleague, he used this experience to design a two-day course which was offered as an AIChE short course for nearly ten years.
Dr. Cramer received his BS and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Chemical Engineering Practice from the MIT Practice School. He is a Fellow of AIChE, a licensed P.E. in Texas, and currently serves on the Executive Board of the National Program Committee, the Chemical Engineering Technology Operating Council, the Admissions Committee, the Research and New Technology Committee, the Professional Development Committee and the NCEES Chemical Engineering Examination Committee. Past service to the Institute includes a term on AIChE’s BOD (1993-1995), and assignments as meeting program chair for an AIChE national meeting (1992) and as chair of AIChE’s Environmental Engineering Division (1991).
