Leo Chiang of Dow interviewed Venkat Venkatasubramanian, Professor of Engineering at Columbia University, about his talk, “Artificial Intelligence in Chemical Engineering: Quo Vadis?”. Venkat participated in the Industry 4.0 Plenary at the 2019 AIChE Spring Meeting and 15th Global Congress on Process Safety.
In the video above, the two discuss the history of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications to chemical engineering, the challenges and opportunities for chemical engineers, and the role academics play. They also look ahead to the growing role of AI in chemical engineering's future.
