Saudi YPC Workshop - Plant Design: Optimization & Feasibility Studies

The Saudi Young Professionals Committee (YPC) recently organized a technical workshop to its members. The workshop, titled Plant Design: Optimization & Feasibility Studies, was conducted on April 20, 2016. Over 150 Young Professionals (YPs) registered for the workshop, which is part of a series of simulation workshops planned by the Saudi YPC in 2016 and sponsored by AspenTech.

Attendees representing some of the region's most prestigious companies and academic institutions attended the workshop, including participants from Saudi Aramco, YASREF, SADARA, Abahsain, BASF, GSPS,  and AB&Co.

During this workshop, participants learned about the plant design aspects using simulation tools and techniques, starting from raw materials and their properties and working through models and equipment to identify the challenges associated with initial design, optimizing the design, and finally optimizing plant operation. At the end of the workshop, the instructor focused on conducting feasibility studies considering the economics and energy perspectives.

The Saudi YPC showed their appreciation to the participants and instructor by providing certificates of completion to participants. The workshop was well received by participants who enjoyed a social dinner gathering right after the event.

The next workshop will be Plant Design: Optimization and Feasibility Study using Aspen HYSYS and other Aspen software on September 21, 2016. To keep up to date on upcoming workshops and what's happening with the Saudi YPCs, follow them on Twitter @AIChE_Saudi.
