New Tech Allows Solar Cells to Be Printed on Paper

According to a report released by MIT News, researchers at the university have developed materials that make it possible to print photovoltaic cells on paper or fabric. Much like a document in any office, the paper emerges from a printer, but when exposed to light, it generates enough energy to power an LCD clock display, as shown in the picture at left.

The technology used to create the paper solar cell was published earlier this month in the journal Advanced Materials.

Where will this technology find its first practical applications?
