UV10MED adhesive

UV10MED is a one-component, low-viscosity, optically clear, UV curable adhesive that is USP Class VI approved and recommended for use in medical device manufacturing. It offers excellent adhesion to metals, glass, ceramics and most plastics, as well as superior chemical resistance properties to many types of sterilants. This adhesive is 100% reactive and does not contain solvents or other volatiles. It has a service temperature range of –60ºF to 250ºF, and cures quickly when exposed to UV light, with typical cure times ranging from 5–10 s to 2–3 min at ambient temperatures.

Thurmalox 8886 Series heat-resistant coatings

Thurmalox 8886 Series heat-resistant coatings are two-component silicone copolymers that provide long-term protection in weathering conditions by creating a barrier against attack from glycol cooling agents and synthetic lubricants at temperatures up to 450ºF. Available in clear, black and custom original equipment manufacturer (OEM) colors, they are suitable for use on valves, castings, pumps, sumps, compressors, pipes and exhaust systems.

Xymara XPS pearlescent effects pigments

Xymara XPS pearlescent effects pigments enhance the appearance and prolong the life of plastics. Traditional mica-based pearl pigments cause yellowing of plastic after exposure to light. This surface treatment stabilizes pearlescent pigments and inhibits yellowing. The Xymara series is suitable for use in a broad range of products, including cosmetics, bottles, jars, containers and many other functional and decorative items.

EP29LPSP epoxy adhesive/sealant

EP29LPSP is a two-component epoxy adhesive/sealant designed to be used in cryogenic applications. It can withstand temperatures as low as 4 K and resist cryogenic shocks (e.g., going from room temperature down to liquid helium temperatures in a 5–10 min period). This adhesive has a mix ratio of 100:65 by weight and cures at room temperatures with a low exotherm, but best results are obtained if heat-cured at 130–165ºF for 6–8 h.

Yttria zirconia submicron powder

Yttria zirconia submicron powder is suitable for wear components, fuel cell components, and equipment in structurally demanding applications. It is available in volume in standard grades of 3 m/o, 4 m/o and 8 m/o, and it can be custom blended to yttria partially stabilized zirconia (YTZP) upon request. Typical fired properties of 3-m/o YTZP include: purity of at least 99.5%, density of 6.08 g/cm3, modulus of rupture (MOR) of 1,400 MPa, hardness (Vickers) of 13.5 GPa, and excellent low-temperature degradation resistance.

PowerShield PV325

The PowerShield PV325 is a reflective white material that protects photovoltaic (PV) solar cells, and all their sunlight-to-electricity conversion components, from such tough conditions as humid environments. PV modules typically have a 25-yr lifespan and must serve as a reliable energy source that offsets high-peak electrical demands and costs.

AC-78 electrically conductive polymers

AC-78 electrically conductive polymers are capable of operating continuously at 260°C without changing their high-bond-retention or conductive properties. Tests have shown reliable performance at 350°C for periods of 15 min. These polymers exhibit bond integrity on many substrates, including boron nitride, titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, polytetrafluorethylene, ceramics, high-temperature plastic, glass and rubber. They provide excellent corrosion resistance and shielding from radio frequency and electro-magnetic interference.

Zeonex cycloolefin polymers

Zeonex cycloolefin polymers (COP) are used as lightweight, breakage-resistant packaging that can be designed to protect protein-based, peptide-based, floating-particle and high-viscosity drugs, as well as contrast media. The material’s high purity and wide-ranging compatibility make it a better choice than glass and other plastics (such as polypropylene or polyethylene terephthalate) for such applications. Zeonex’s mechanical properties insulate it from damage frequently inflicted onto other plastics from steam, ethylene oxide and gamma sterilization.

LNP Faradex DS 1003 FR HI composite

The LNP Faradex DS 1003 FR HI composite is a polycarbonate-based material infused with stainless steel fibers. The material replaces plastics typically used in shielding applications that require a secondary metal coating, such as a labor-intensive copper overspray that often is applied unevenly. This compound provides an enhanced shielding effectiveness of 40–55 db (at 0.125 in.) and flame retardance that supports requirements for the elimination of halogenated additives, as well as high impact resistance and low shrinkage.

Versaflex CL E95 TPE

Versaflex CL E95 TPE is a phthalate-free thermoplastic elastomer that provides water clarity, sterilization capability and low extractables. It is stable under gamma and autoclave sterilization and can be customized to have a variety of different hardnesses, custom colors, and flow properties. The standard product has a 95 Shore A hardness and a specific gravity of 0.90, with tensile strength up to 2,500 psi and elongation up to 575%. It is well-suited for use in a variety of extruded tubing and films, as well as blow-molded bags and containers.
