Barbara McDonald Loe has been director of membership since March, 2013. Prior to becoming AIChE Membership Director, McDonald Loe was vice president of marketing for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). At PRSA, she oversaw the strategic business plans and functional areas of marketing, professional development, accreditation, and professional interest membership communities. Her accomplishments included repositioning the membership brand; building PRSA’s presence in social media channels; publishing the ComPRehension blog; expanding educational offerings and development of a Social Media BootCamp and Digital Impact Conference; and working with the U.S. Department of Defense to extend the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) to include the designation of APR + Military Communication. McDonald Loe also led PRSA’s website redesign, which won the 2010 Best in Class Award from the Interactive Media Council and the Cyber Space Award from the New York Society of Association Executives.

Prior to joining PRSA, McDonald Loe was the director of marketing and communications for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). While there, she developed an in-house marketing function, increased membership and helped to redefine the ISTE brand after a merger. McDonald Loe also served as the director of strategic marketing and business operations for International Data Group’s Web Publishing Inc., where she managed the marketing design, launch and development plan in addition to the business operations and community partnership programs for seven new, award-winning web-only publications. Additionally, she served as the director of business development for International Data Group’s ITworld.com.

McDonald Loe holds a bachelor’s degree in politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
