Forum Vice Chair Invites You to the 12th Process Safety Management Mentoring (PSMM) Forum

Bill Mosier, MS, ASP, CSP, is a Senior Regional Corporate Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager at Syngenta, a leading global science-based agtech company. He specializes in occupational and process safety and is a key member of Syngenta’s global safety center of expertise supporting all businesses but additionally supports the chemical manufacturing function as an HSE Business Partner for North America.

Bill also serves as the vice chair of the 12th Process Safety Management Mentoring (PSMM) Forum, which takes place at the 2023 Spring Meeting and 19th Global Congress on Process Safety in Houston, Texas. This year’s Forum will consist of one of five parallel symposia tracks included in the Global Congress on Process Safety (GCPS).

We recently reached out to Bill to find out what we can expect at this year’s Forum.

What is your role for the 2023 AIChE Spring Meeting & 19th Global Congress on Process Safety?

This year, my role is vice chair of the 12th Process Safety Management Mentoring (PSMM) Forum. The PSMM Forum is a tutorial-based track aimed at professionals who may be new to the field of process safety, those who now have a management role in process safety, and to those interested in strengthening their knowledge of process safety.

Can you give us some insight into this year’s GCPS and what events shouldn’t be missed?

The PSMM Forum has a lineup back to pre-Covid levels and is always a popular destination for those new to process safety, and more seasoned attendees that need to regain their passion for process safety. We have some longstanding sessions, like the Tutorials in Process Safety and The Day Process Safety Hit Home, but also have a couple new sessions worth checking out: The Faces of Process Safety: Process Safety Mentoring for Our IDEAL Workforce and Lies We Tell Ourselves – Cognitive Bias and Human Performance in Process Safety.

The other symposia have strong lineups as well; I always enjoy meaningful conversations in the exhibit hall and the luncheon presentations.

What information are you hoping attendees walk away with?

I hope that attendees – especially the new ones – walk away with new connections and a clearer understanding and passion for process safety, problem solving tips, and an overall feeling that this event is making a difference in the vision to live in a world without process safety incidents.
