I recently caught up with Leo Chiang, meeting program co-chair and Big Data Analytics Topical Conference chair for the 2017 AIChE Spring Meeting & 13th Global Congress on Process Safety.
What is your role for the 2017 AIChE Spring Meeting & 13th Global Congress on Process Safety?
I have a dual role of meeting program co-chair and Big Data Analytics Topical Conference chair.
Can you give us some insight into this year’s 3rd Big Data Analytics Topical and what events shouldn’t be missed?
Be sure to attend the first-ever joint plenary between Big Data Analytics and Process Safety Spotlight, with world-class presenters from Dow, McKinsey, Rolls Royce, and MIT. There is something for everyone. If you are interested in emerging methods and techniques, be sure to attend the “invited tutorials.” If you are interested in state-of-the-art commercial solutions, be sure to attend the “invited vendor sessions.” If you are interested in industrial applications, be sure to attend the “industrial perspective sessions,” “IIoT,” and “smart manufacturing sessions.” If you are interested in exploring the enablers of big data analytics, be sure to attend statistics sessions and fundamental modeling sessions.
What information are you hoping attendees walk away with?
For the new comers in the big data era, I hope they will walk away with excitement and motivation to start their big data analytics journey. For the experts, I hope they will walk away with new ideas to multiply their successes. For all attendees, I hope they will come back to future AIChE spring meetings to share their big data analytics success stories.
