
The VIT University Student Chapter in India conducted its first SAChE course, Safety Processes in Chemical Process Industries, for chemical and mechanical engineering students.
The aim of this workshop was to provide freshmen and sophomore students with knowledge on safety norms followed in chemical industries.

As part of the workshop, guest lecturer Mr. Nirmal Gandhi, Head of Safety Committee at Thirumalai Chemicals Ltd. Ranipet, gave a brief insight on safety norms followed in chemical industries, such as the necessity for use of personal protective equipment and safety audits.
The next day, a guest lecture was organized by VIT University faculty Dr. Dipesh Patle, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, VIT University, who gave a detailed study on HAZOP Analysis.

Day one was separated into two modules: the first covered corporate safety, laboratory safety and inspections, and personal protective equipment. The second module covered process safety features and inspections.
Day two's first module covered DIERS and vent sizing package (VSP), and dust and vapor explosion apparatus. The second module gave the students a chance to engage in an informal safety review before the formal review.
