Using and Enjoying Your AIChE Member Benefits: AIChE Engage

Being an AIChE member provides you the opportunity to easily connect and build relationships with other chemical engineers who share your interests — even if you don’t have the time or ability to meet them in person. The newest benefit of membership, AIChE Engage, makes doing this even easier and more interactive than before.

Your profile

Engage is a mobile-friendly platform where you can build an online AIChE profile to your liking, including adding your photo, academic and professional accomplishments, career achievements and other distinguishing details that you’d like to share about yourself with your fellow members.

To get started, simply log into Engage with your AIChE username and password (there's a prompt to reset them in case you've forgotten them). If you already created a profile in AIChE’s Community Directory, there’s no need to create a new one from scratch, since it’s been automatically moved to Engage. You might wish to enhance it though, since there are many great new features that were previously unavailable, including the ability to import photos and biographical information from your LinkedIn account.

Within Engage, you can also view all secure information related to your AIChE membership, including your membership number, contact information (you can update this if and when you need to) and, within “My Stuff,” all the AIChE activities and benefits you are currently participating in.

Search for and connect with peers

Now that you’ve reviewed and updated your profile, you’re ready to Engage. You’ll find an extensive search engine which enables you to find other members by their names, companies, geographic locations, job functions and industries. There are also focused AIChE member directories of Fellows, Professionals, Young Professionals, Graduate Students, Undergraduate Students and members of the Society for Biological Engineering (SBE). After you’ve found the members you are looking for, you can send them an invitation to communicate via Engage or through another channel.

Participate in Discussion Central

Perhaps the new feature of Engage that you will find most exciting is Engage Discussion Central, which launched on March 15. Professional members now have the opportunity to post and participate in discussions with colleagues all over the world on topics related to chemical engineering. Seeing the discussions is easy as they are sent directly to your e-mail address in a daily digest. Current discussions include Avoiding Errors in Simulation Software and Skills They Didn’t Teach You In School

In order to ensure that the discussions appear in your inbox and do not get marked as spam, be sure to whitelist the e-mail address Mail@ConnectedCommunity.org. You can find more information on how to whitelist this address here.
