Interview: Adrienne Minerick on Diversity in Chemical Engineering

Adrienne Minerick is the associate dean for research and innovation at Michigan Tech. She also serves as chair of the American Society for Engineering Education's (ASEE's) National Diversity committee (diversity.asee.org)

At the 2015 Annual Meeting, Adrienne took part in "Engineering Diversity and Inclusion: Moving Forward," a summit dedicated to advancing diversity in the chemical engineering profession. One of the outcomes of the summit was a partnership between AIChE’s Diversity efforts and that of ASEE’s Diversity Committee.

AIChE program associate Kelsey Kettelhut had a chance to sit down with Adrienne to talk about diversity and inclusivity in industry and academia. In particular, she discusses "safe zones" with Adrienne, and how they can be used to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
