AIChE Apprentices: An Opportunity to Make a Difference

This summer, AIChE is launching a new program to empower young professionals to affect the direction of the chemical engineering profession. The AIChE Apprentices program provides a collaboration and mentorship framework for young professionals who are interested in pursuing their passion in chemical engineering. Apprentices will join or start a project within AIChE related to chemical engineering education, practice, or technology. They will also join one of AIChE's many technical or networking-based divisions, forums, and committees in order to be introduced to and contribute to AIChE governance. All members of the program will receive fully subsidized membership in AIChE for their first two years and a 75% subsidy in their third year. Some potential projects that Apprentices have proposed include:

  • Designing experiments and best practices documents for K-12 outreach.
  • Working on service projects in the developing world.
  • Advocacy/Policy work related to chemical engineering.
  • Researching better methods of teaching engineering in schools and among young professionals.

If you are interested in becoming an Apprentice, please contact Arjun Gopalratnam or complete the Nominations Form.
