ALTRON alumina-bonded silicon carbide

ALTRON alumina-bonded silicon carbide (SiC) can be precision-cut into shapes that outlast nitride-bonded SiC brick and wear-resistant alloys. Field tests have demonstrated a service life improvement of 200%. Objects made of this material have refractory-like densities, which allows them to undergo repeated thermal cycling without experiencing thermal-shock damage. At the same time, the material maintains the type of very tight porosity that is normally found only in dense, advanced ceramics. It can be used in the processing and transport of slurry, ore, ash, coal, coke, and catalysts.

Lumicene M3382MZ low-density polypropylene (PP) resin

Lumicene M3382MZ low-density polypropylene (PP) resin is made by combining Total’s proprietary metallocene technology with Milliken’s high-performance NX8000 clarifying agent. The resulting material has superior clarity and gloss and is a cost-effective substitute for other clear plastics, such as polystyrene (PS) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). It has an ultra-low extractables content and improved taste and odor characteristics, and it complies with U.S.

Metcar 1515 mechanical-grade copper bearings

Metcar 1515 mechanical-grade copper bearings operate without lubrication in dry and dust-prone environments at temperatures up to 750°F. The bearings are non-galling and dimensionally stable, and they have high compressive strength and excellent chemical resistance and conductivity. They can be used in the construction of bearing and thrust washers for use in kilns, kiln cars, oven dryers, dust and fume collectors, ventilating dampers, furnaces and conveyors.

Silplus MP multipurpose silicone elastomers

Silplus MP multipurpose silicone elastomers can be compounded and blended to achieve desired properties, and are versatile for use in a wide variety of applications and processing equipment. Silplus EX silicone elastomers are stronger than the MP models, offering excellent extrusion performance. Silplus HS silicone elastomers have an even higher strength for use in very demanding applications.

Lexan EFR polycarbonate (PC) film

Lexan EFR polycarbonate (PC) film technology provides non-brominated, non-chlorinated flame retardance in thinner sheets than flame-retardant polypropylene (FRPP). This film reduces material costs for OEMs and allows them to create, for example, flatter, lighter-weight notebook computers. It meets the requirements of the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE 2006) directives.

DOW ECOLIBRIUM bio-based plasticizers

DOW ECOLIBRIUM bio-based plasticizers are designed to be incorporated into polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compounds used to make wire insulation and jacketing. They are made of 100% renewable feedstocks and can help cable manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% when used as a replacement for traditional PVC plasticizers.

Biostrength 280 impact modifier

The high-efficiency, clear Biostrength 280 impact modifier imparts toughness to polyactic acid (PLA) biopolymers while maintaining polymer clarity. This is achieved by incorporating a small amount of the modifier into PLA during extrusion, transforming the sheet from brittle to ductile.

Lexan XHT

Lexan XHT clear, high-temperature polycarbonate copolymer resins have an optimal balance of high heat resistance and high flow. These features expand design options for molding thin-wall parts. Their proprietary chemistry alters the polymer backbone by incorporating specialized monomers, leading to good high-temperature performance, with end-use temperatures in the range of 140°C–195°C.

Polymer Supreme 46HT-2

Polymer Supreme 46HT-2 is a two-component adhesive that provides high-temperature resistance along with superior toughness and strength. Its mixing ratio is 100:30, and it cures at 250°F. Having a wide operating temperature range (–100°F–500°F), it is appropriate for many applications and is used in the aerospace, electronics, metalworking, transportation, appliance manufacturing, and chemical and oil processing industries. It is available for purchase in half-pint, pint, quart, one-gallon and five-gallon container kits.

BioClosure systems

BioClosure systems are multi- or single-use container closures suitable for pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory, and other clean applications. They are designed for flexible container systems, laboratory bottles, and sampling and storage receptacles made of glass, plastic, or metal. These pure closures are manufactured and packaged in a Class 7, ISO-certified cleanroom from USP Class VI-certified platinum-cured silicone elastomer. Certified to be free of animal-derived ingredients, the closures are biologically safe and can withstand auto-claving and gamma irradiation.
