Maria Carmona-Montalvo

I am a passionate and dedicated re-entry student, double majoring in Chemical Engineering and Biology with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. 

I joined AICHE ESC to ensure that all chemical engineering students get a quality and equitable education and that they feel part of something a lot bigger and more powerful, a part of the ChME Family.  I just became legally blind and encourage all ChemE's with special needs to keep going because there is a place in STEM for all of us.

The title of my current research project is Empowering Resilience in Special Needs Students: A Program to Include Students with Special Needs in Primary Scientific Research. Before my accident I was primarily conducting research which aims to eradicate cancer. My research involves phytochemical analysis, mass spectrometry, and flow cytometry.
