Student Awards Application Deadline: July 1

Chemical engineering students work hard to earn their degrees. AIChE awards recognize students' hard work individually and within student chapters. These awards are available exclusively to AIChE student members and AIChE Student Chapters.The recognition will look great on your résumé and in your wallet. 

Take advantage of your member benefit and apply before the July 1 deadline.

Freshman Recognition Award

The Freshman Recognition Award is presented to one AIChE student member in each student chapter who has been the most active in the student chapter during his/her freshman year, on recommendation of the Student Chapter advisor. The winners receive free registration to the upcoming Annual Student Conference, a $50 travel allowance, and a certificate of recognition.

Donald F. Othmer Sophomore Academic Excellence Award

The Sophomore Academic Excellence Award is presented to one AIChE student member in each student chapter who has attained the highest scholastic grade-point average during his/her freshman and sophomore years, on recommendation of the Student Chapter advisor. The winners receive free registration to the upcoming Annual Student Conference, a $50 travel allowance, and a certificate of recognition.

Outstanding Student Chapter Award

Presented annually to those Student Chapters that show an exceptional level of participation, enthusiasm, program quality, professionalism, and involvement in the university and community. A plaque for the Chapter, and certificates for the advisor(s) and president(s) who served during the 2016-2017 academic year.

Outstanding Student Chapter Advisor Award

Recognizes an individual's outstanding service and leadership in guiding the activities of an AIChE student chapter in accordance with AIChE principles. The winner receives a  plaque and a $500 travel allowance to attend the Annual Meeting, as well as a $500 unrestricted grant is given to the chemical engineering department at the advisor's school.

ScaleUp Sponsors Essay Contest

Under the aegis of AIChE and its ScaleUp Program, ScaleUp corporate sponsors are awarding $500 scholarships which may be used as travel stipends for this year's AIChE Annual Student Conference.
