LyondellBasell's Patel to Deliver AGILE Award Keynote Lecture at AIChE’s Virtual Spring Meeting & Global Congress on Process Safety, August 17

Bhavesh V. (Bob) Patel, Chief Executive Officer of LyondellBasell, will present the Welcome Keynote Address at the 2020 AIChE Virtual Spring Meeting and 16th Global Congress on Process Safety. Patel will set the stage for the online conferences on Monday, August 17, with his reflections on emerging trends for the global chemical engineering community — such as digitization, sustainability, plastic waste elimination, and more. In connection with his talk, Patel will receive AIChE’s Government and Industry Leaders (AGILE) Award, which recognizes the contributions of innovative executives from businesses that employ chemical engineers.

Originally scheduled to take place in March 2020 in Houston, Texas, the conference was rescheduled to August 17–21 and moved to an online platform in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual meeting platform is expected to expand the global reach of the conference and will permit new flexibility and interactivity among meeting attendees. 

Patel became CEO of LyondellBasell in 2015, after serving as Executive Vice President, Olefins and Polyolefins–Europe, Asia and International; and previously as Senior Vice President, Olefins and Polyolefins–Americas. As CEO, Patel has focused on the company’s long-term growth strategy, including the 2018 acquisition of A. Schulman, Inc., which made LyondellBasell the world’s largest manufacturer of compounded materials.

Patel earned a BS in chemical engineering from the Ohio State University and an MBA from Temple University.
