The 15th Global Congress on Process Safety (GCPS) took place at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside March 31 – April 2, 2019. Each year the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) and the AIChE Safety & Health Division present the GCPS. From its initial meeting in 2005, the GCPS has grown into the world's largest gathering of practitioners from industry, regulatory bodies, and academia. This year approximately 1,000 process safety practitioners gathered to exchange knowledge on the profession’s emerging topics worldwide.

Matthew C. Koenings, DuPont Vice President, Operations and Chief Engineer (retired), kicked off the 15th GCPS on Monday April 1 with his keynote speech on “The Upside of UPSLI: Ensuring a Safer Industry Through Undergraduate Process Safety Education.”

The keynote was followed by technical and poster sessions programmed by the 53rd Annual Loss Prevention Symposium (LPS), 34th Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) International Conference, 21st Process Plant Safety Symposium (PPSS), 8th Process Safety Management Mentoring (PSMM) Forum, Perspectives on Process Safety from Around the World, and the Process Safety Spotlights track.
