TOPIC - Clinical trials: The American story

Clinical trials are a hot topic; consider the controversy around the COVID-19 studies. Rules and regulations governing clinical trials have evolved over time, primarily driven by ethical considerations and the need for scientific rigor. We will explore some famous examples of ethical violations in US clinical trials that have shaped these regulations, which fortunately have led to checks and balances.

In addition, we will examine diversity in US clinical trials which is essential to ensure that the safety and efficacy of medical treatments can be generalized to all populations. Particularly analyzing diversity in the COVID-19 clinical trials.
