Patient compliance & adherences to prescribed medications is a key consideration during drug product design. For oral solid dose products, factors like tablet shape, table size, excipient and active ingredient taste and dosing frequency can influence patient compliance. Similarly for drug-device combination products, such as inhalation products, the attributes of the inhalation device along with the physical properties of the API can affect adherences to the prescribed treatment. This session invites papers highlighting the application of particle technology concepts during drug product design to improve patient compliance as it relates to improved stability, improved bio-performance, controlled release, and composite/combination dosage form. Examples include the design of novel materials to improve taste masking, advances in compaction to enable fix dose combinations, design of inhalation devices to ensure ease of use, design of materials for controlled release, etc.
