University of Bahrain's Team Leclanche Wins Middle East Regional Chem-E-Car Competition

The first-ever AIChE Middle East Regional Chem-E-Car Competition® took place as part of the 2015 MEPEC Conference at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Center. The competition took place September 15-16 and featured four teams from two universities in the region. 

The universities represented included University of Bahrain, which had three teams (Aribatu, Leclanche, and Aluminum Air Copper Cell), and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, which had one team (Sadeem).

Poster Presentation & Competition

The teams began September 15 with a poster presentation about their cars. Each team had to give a presentation on their car design before a team of judges. There were four awards for the Chem-E Car Poster Competition. The award for the most creative design went to Team Sadeem, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. The third-place winner was University of Bahrain's Team Aribatu. The second-place winner was University of Bahrain's Team Leclanche. The first-place winner of the Poster Competition was Team Sadeem, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.

Performance Competition

On September 16 the much-anticipated, first-ever Middle East Regional Chem-E-Car Performance Competition took place. The second-place award was given to King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and its Team Sadeem. The first-place award was given to University of Bahrain and its Team Leclanche.

By winning this regional competition, University of Bahrain's Team Leclanche secured a spot to compete in the Chem-E-Car Competition®  as part of the 2016 Annual Student Conference in San Francisco, CA.
