Viscosity reduction is a key benefit of gas injection for enhanced oil recovery. This study aimed to predict the viscosity of the reservoir fluid and injected gas blends based on Peng Robinson equation of state and friction theory. Carbon dioxide gas injection, lean gas injection and rich gas injection results are reported in this work. This study found that SARA based characterization method gave more accurate modeling results compared to that from Chi-Square distribution characterization method for live oil modeling. The capability to accurately predict viscosity of the gas injection blends was also demonstrated.
