The Effect of Relative Volatility, Enthalpy, Density and Surface Tension on Distillation Column Design

The effect of errors in relative volatility on distillation column design has been discussed in the past. In this paper we offer a review on this subject from a different perspective. The effect of errors in enthalpy, an area not emphasized in the past, is discussed in detail. We will, graphically and numerically show the effect of errors in enthalpy have a direct effect on the number of stages, reflux ratio and column traffic. The effect of errors in densities and surface tension are also discussed.
