Flow Modeling and Challenges: Multiphase Flows and Heat Transfer II

Upstream Engineering involves not only multiphase flows within pipelines, but also within more complex geometries like heat exchangers, where phase change can occur. Moving beyond an empirical approach requires CFD; however multiphase CFD remains a challenging topic, and advanced experimental tools such as Electrical Tomography, Ultrasound sensors and PIV can provide validation for CFD modeling assumptions. This session aims to bring together researchers involved in modeling and experimental efforts that seek to improve our understanding of multiphase flows (e.g. liquid-gas flows, slurries) and heat transfer applications (e.g. LNG Liquification, air coolers, compact plate frame/ shell-and-tube heat exchangers).
