Over 20 years after CCPS initially developed its process safety management elements, the next generation process safety system called Risk Based Process Safety was published. During this time, a variety of process safety regulations have been put into effect globally; most of these requiring some number of management practices to be implemented for the prevention of accidental releases and catastrophic events. In addition, countless industrial organizations and individual companies have adopted their own frameworks for process safety management. Throughout this period many companies have achieved success in implementing process safety programs and practices. For others, process safety implementation effectiveness has been inconsistent and resulting process safety performance has been up-and-down. This session will cover the essentials for success for companies that have achieved consistent process safety performance, reasons for inconsistent process safety implementation, and keys for process safety renewal. Papers are invited from companies willing to share lessons from implementing and evolving effective Process Safety programs. In particular, we are looking for some consistent success stories and others where it was necessary to reinvigorate, renew, or begin again process safety implementation.
