- Conference: AIChE Spring Meeting and Global Congress on Process Safety
- Year: 2011
- Proceeding: 2011 Spring Meeting & 7th Global Congress on Process Safety
- Group:
- Type: Oral
- Room: Columbus EF
- Location: Hyatt Regency Chicago
- Time: Tuesday, March 15, 2011 - 3:30pm-5:00pm
PHA and LOPA are widely used throughout industry, though the focus is often on normal operations, and inherently safer design (ISD) principles may only be considered early in design. While there are regulatory requirements for PHA revalidation, no direct requirement exists for other risk studies. Presentations will cover improvements in methods to identify hazards for non-routine operations, opportunities to generate ideas for ISD in HAZOP and LOPA, and the importance of revalidating LOPA and other quantitative risk studies to gauge the cumulative impact of incremental changes to a process or facility.
