(463d) Facing the Future of PSE: Challenges from Complex Real World Problems and Solutions
PSE tools are typically designed to provide precise solutions to specific systems where inputs and conditions are well known. Ideally, industrialists would use these tools to design new processes and to also optimize existing assets. However, in practice, tools often struggle to model real world requirements which are complex, transient and often poorly understood.
Examples of industrial problems will be presented to highlight key issues and future directions for PSE. In particular we will examine the progress made by Prof. Gani and the CAPEC Consortium and why it presents exciting opportunities.
