Topical Plenary: Microbial Interaction with Biointerfaces (Invited Talks)

Chair(s)

Urish, K., University of Pittsburgh

Co-chair(s)

Lele, P., Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station

This plenary session will cover the challenge faced by biocompatible materials infected following reconstructive surgery. The session will highlight how the physicochemical interactions of microbes with polymeric, metal and ceramic materials can lead to the failure of medical devices. Discussions of the mechanisms of failures of devices including stents, catheter, orthopedics and dental implants are encouraged. Supported by the AIChE Foundation
