The Spent Catalyst Value module of CatCost enables the estimation of the cost impact of catalyst metals recycling compared to stabilization and landfilling. The module includes metal- and support-specific data on loss in use, loss in refining, processing and refining costs, and more based on discussions with industry experts. The module complete logic to determine the fate and cost/value of a wide range of catalyst materials. In general, spent catalysts can be sent to a refiner to reclaim metals, sold for other uses (e.g., steel, cement, or smelter), or disposed of in a landfill.
