Mapping the three-dimensional (3D) velocity fields in viscoelastic flows is useful for characterizing fluid rheology, understanding the spatial structure of elasticity-driven instabilities and obtaining insights into phenomena such as slip and shear-banding. In this study, we use digital holography microscopy to quantify the 3D velocity profiles due to flow of polymeric fluids in linear microchannels, contraction flows and serpentine channels. We discuss our experimental procedures and data analysis routines to obtain robust velocimetry data.
