The standard reference method ASTM D3867-09 (Standard Test Method for nitrite-nitrate in water) was used as a reference to evaluate the content of nitrite ion present in N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF). The calibration curve was prepared in water and confirmed that the matrix effect is not significant. Once obtained, the matrix water calibration curve was compared with a theoretical curve calculated considering the all the measurement uncertainties and an estimation of the parameters through the Maximum Likelihood Method (MLE) with confidence of 95%. The comparison with the experimental data proved that there was a significant difference on the linear coefficient when associated with the measurement uncertainties. Therefore, the results obtained for construction of the curve and the validation of the methodology showed that the proposed the MLE model was satisfactory.
