A predictive mathematical model like Streeter-Phelps has two mechanisms that describe the dissolved oxygen behavior (organic matter degradation and aeration). This model was used in order to identify the distance between a food factory discharge point and the completely organic matter degradation point. The oxygen deficit was the critic variable of assimilation and the mass balances were calculated using Matlab. The distance between the discharge point and the completely degradation point rise with the contaminant concentration and the speed of the river.
