Development and Applications of Automotive Catalysts II

Chair(s)

Automotive catalysts have played an important role in the last 3 decades or so to bring down the pollutants from vehicle exhaust. With the recent stringent regulations on pollutant emissions from mobile and stationary engines, there is an increasing demand for the novel catalysts and technologies to significantly reduce the emissions and improve fuel economy. This session focuses on the development and applications of exhaust catalysts and aftertreatment systems for gasoline, diesel, natural gas as well as dual-fuel engines. The session contributions are expected to include the discussion on: •New technologies/ aftertreatment systems for mobile and stationary engine (gasoline, diesel, natural gas or dual-fuel) exhaust emissions control •Development and integration of multi-functional aftertreatment devices •Development and characterization of exhaust catalysts: (a) three-way,(b) oxidation and reforming, (c) deNOx, (d) ammonia oxidation, (e) passive adsorbers and traps, (f) multi-functional catalysts and (g) low temperature catalysts •Particulate emissions characterization and control: (a) particulate filter, (b) catalyzed soot filter •Development of microkinetic and global reaction mechanisms for automotive catalysts •Modeling and simulation of automotive catalysts •Deactivation studies on automotive catalysts and kinetic model development
