Hybrid Separation Processes

Co-chair(s)

Wang, M., National Institute of Clean-and-Low-Carbon Energy, China

The study of hybrid separation technology is gaining momentum in developing more sustainable and economical processes. For example, the combination of distillation with membrane separation (such as n-C4 from i-C4) lowers energy consumption and improves yields and qualities of distillation cuts. Reactive distillation (such as production of methyl acetate) is another example of combined unit operations in a single apparatus resulting in significantly lower capital and operating costs. The key objective of this session is to invite presentations addressing improved separation efficiency and decreased equipment sizes and weight by applying hybrid separation technology. Experimental and simulation studies are welcome.
