Process intensification (PI) is a rapidly developing field that can be exploited for high throughput in small devices, resulting in lowering capital and operating cost. Various options for PI include multiple processes integration, mass and heat transfer enhancement, and process simplification and miniaturization, etc. A systematic design approach for optimal process synthesis using PI can have a large impact in the way current process designs are carried out. Along with optimal process design for PI, we welcome other process design approaches that may be suboptimal, but have followed design approaches that exploit PI. In addition, we welcome papers that present modeling and simulation of PI in general.
