Solution-phase routes to metal and semiconductor nanocrystals have been a significant focus of nanomaterials synthesis and processing research. Relatively recently, researchers have begun to understand how to control the nanocrystal shape, producing low aspect ratio nanorods, very high aspect ratio nanowires, and complex branched structures. This session will focus on nanorod and nanowire synthesis. Contributions describing various approaches, including templating media, metal particle-seeded growth, electrochemical routes, surfactant-assisted nanorod formation, aggregative self-assembly, and others are welcome.
