Sponsoring and Developing Diverse Talent (Invited Talks)

To improve innovation and enrich the profession, managers have a unique and powerful role in helping improve career opportunities and advancement for underrepresented minorities. Chemical engineering overall lags with getting and keeping underrepresented minorities in the profession and AIChE is committed to helping improve this. This session will share ways that managers can "break the norm" of the culture of engineering to help women and people of different race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and abilities feel more welcome and bring all of their talents to the profession. Keys to be discussed include building networks of "high gain" contacts, finding sponsors and advocating with peers.
