Platforms are a force for innovation in Process Development at Amgen and In Silico Modeling is a new digital platform that complements established product and process platforms. Ad hoc modeling and models is inefficient, error prone, does not allow for enterprise ready solutions, and its insight is often not credible in a regulatory context. Platform thinking is essential to digital innovation and our journey towards digital twins.

This talk will discuss the current state of the Amgen’s In Silico modeling platform and its four main pillars:

  1. Modeling assets: the collection of in silico models and data deployed to and used by engineers and scientists across the organization.
  2. Modeling technologies: the systems and tools that underpin the above.
  3. Modeling processes: the collection of business processes that define the lifecycle of the platform and its components.
  4. Modeling maturity: a capability maturity framework for enterprise grade modeling initiatives

This work will share industrially relevant lessons on how to scale-up the impact of in silico modeling teams. It will also present practical Agile modeling practices to enable agility and speed. Finally, it will also discuss the role of strategic partnerships within the organization and with the wider ecosystem of vendors, academia, and stakeholders.
