Knowledge of pure and mixture adsorption isotherms are essential for the design of adsorption separation processes. Volumetric and gravimetric systems have been commonly used for the determination of pure component adsorption isotherms with success. For the determination of mixture adsorption behavior, volumetric and gravimetric systems become quite expensive. One alternative to consider would be the use of concentration chromatography technique for determining binary mixture adsorption isotherms. This technique can also be used for determining the pure component isotherms, as well. The presentation will concentrate on the use of concentration pulse chromatography for determining pure and binary adsorption isotherms, and compares the results obtained to the results from other methods.
