Applied Formulation Design

Co-chair(s)

Brettmann, B., Georgia Institute of Technology

The manufacturability and performance of a formulation can be greatly affected by the nature of the excipients and API (physical properties, physical and chemical stability), as well as the interactions of these components. The efficient development of pharmaceutical drug product formulations requires rational selection of excipients and processing route to achieve robust formulations giving reproducible manufacturability, as well as control of the critical quality attributes including safety, quality and efficacy. This session highlights research related to drug product delivery and formulation development of oral and topical drug products. Drug formulation design includes but is not limited to traditional tablets, capsules, liposomes, microspheres, depots, and nano-suspensions.
