Technologies for Understanding Microbial Interactions

Chair(s)

Brown, A., Lehigh University

Co-chair(s)

Chang, C., Montana State University

Recent discoveries have demonstrated that microbial interactions at biointerfaces can greatly affect human health and industrial processes. These microbial interactions, such as those found in complex, polymicrobial communities, can result in chronic infections or fouling of materials. Research into these fascinating symbiotic interactions have been enabled in recent years by novel, innovative technologies, such as microfluidics. The focus of this session is on the development of new technologies to study inter-microbial and microbial-surface interactions in these complex communities.
