Process Intensification through Process Systems Engineering

Chair(s):

Co-chair(s):
Papathanasiou, M., Imperial College London

Process intensification (PI) is a rapidly developing field that can be exploited for high throughput, resulting in lowering capital and operating cost. Various options for PI include multiple processes integration, mass and heat transfer enhancement, and process simplification, etc. Options for PI can be identified and realized on different scales of a chemical process and include e.g. the realization of new reaction routes (new catalysts), the use of innovative solvents, novel reactors, integrated processes (e.g. reactive or hybrid separations) or new (e.g. dynamic) operating modes. Papers on practical implementations as well as methodological contributions are equally welcome.
