Brazilian AIChE Chapters Come Together

⁠On April 16th, Universidade Estadual de Maringa Student Chapter (UEM) hosted the 3rd edition of ConAIChE National Conference of AIChE, which was attended by Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná Student Chapter (Unioeste). It consisted on a day of lectures, discussions and debates on the theme "the importance of embracing a cause." During the day, there were motivational speeches and inspiring reports on the subject. Among the topics covered were "AIChE’s Identity in Brazil" and "Creation of new Chapters in Brazilian soil".

Student chapters came to Brazil aiming to supply what many universities are lacking - the link between students and industry. This is what differs AIChE from other student organizations. UEM and Unioeste student chapters go beyond technical visits and short courses, offering "challenges" that unite industries and students in searching solutions to a technical problem. The students put into practice their theoretical knowledge in various areas of engineering, working with students from other courses and developing a network with other engineering students, international students and many professionals working in the area.

Aiming a national expansion and more direct contact with the companies, the institute offers a portfolio to help any group of chemical engineering students interested in opening a student chapter at their university, in addition to guidelines in the role of the Institute in Brazil.

The recent partnership between AIChE and National Federation of Chemical Engineering Students (FENEEQ) will help strengthen the visibility and networking of both institutions in order to improve chemical engineering at national level.
