Meet Everett Early: 2022 FOSSI Scholar Attending Prairie View A&M University

April 24, 2023

FOSSI: Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Everett Early. I'm from Rowlett, Texas, and I attended Hillcrest High school. I left with a 3.8 GPA, a high school diploma, and an associate of science degree from Dallas College. I plan to continue my education With Praire A&M, where I will be majoring in Electrical Engineering. I am an Eagle Scout, secretary of Key Club, and a member of the National Honors Society. My dream is to one day own an engineering firm and travel around the world.

FOSSI: Who is a role model that has influenced you?

The adult that I admired was Mr. Abraham Early, my grandfather. I chose him because of his love and the example that he has shown the Early Family. He is significant because of his work ethic and perseverance. Despite my grandfather's 8th-grade education, he made a lifelong impression on his family. My grandfather married his wife of over 50 years and had five children. What was most impressive was that all five of his children graduated from college. Abraham Early accomplished this task on a meager salary. My grandfather was a construction worker who stressed the importance of education. He always said he never wanted his kids to do the back-breaking construction job that he did his entire life. I remind myself when I'm tired that my grandfather stayed focused and completed his tasks despite everything. So to honor his memory, I push myself to be the best in everything I do.

FOSSI: Share a few fun facts about yourself.

I like to golf, watch movies, spend time with family, go on vacations, try new foods, and travel.
