Dynamic Intensification of Chemical Processes

  • Proposed feasible divided wall column designs for two systems: MMA-MEOH-H2O (methyl methacrylate-methanol-water) & MEG-TEG-DEG- H2O (mono ethylene glycol –tri ethylene glycol – diethylene glycol – water) that interested by Dow Inc.
  • Ethylene glycol divided wall column (DWC) can achieve 6.8% savings in energy while reducing 5.5% total number of stages comparing to conventional setup.
  • Identified auxiliary operating points for dynamic intensification of ethylene glycol DWC and demonstrated 1.5% savings in energy duty and 1.6% savings in energy cost.
