RACER Virtual Technician and Operator Training Workshop 1 - Existing Programs & Best Practices

October 11, 2022 | BioNetwork Capstone Center, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC

As part of an award from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to respond to the lingering effects of COVID-19 and to prepare for a potential future coronavirus pandemic, AIChE/RAPID will be developing a virtual technician and operator training program for the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, fine chemical and specialty chemical industries. This effort will be a 2-year project, beginning with a road mapping workshop to identify existing programs and best practices.

RAPID seeks to gather key stakeholders across these industry sectors, map current and future industry needs to train a robust pipeline of workers, and, utilizing RAPID’s demonstrated process to roadmap and develop virtual learning content, develop impactful and virtual training courses which would allow current and future workers from any region of the U.S. to up-skill quickly. In the event of future lockdowns, future workers and those in the workforce pipeline could be trained off-site in a safe environment due to the virtual nature of the learning content.

The first workshop is focused on existing programs and best practices used by industry and other stakeholders to train technicians and operators.
