Steven D. Emerson

Dr. Steven D. Emerson is President of Emerson Technical Analysis, LLC, a firm specializing in safe handling of hazardous, explosive, reactive or flammable materials. Before founding this firm, he was an executive in several companies in the process industries, including Kerr-McGee Corporation where he was Vice President for Safety, Environment and Technology across the entire corporation. He has lectured on topics such as combustible dust explosions on behalf of the Mary Kay O'Connor Process Safety Center at Texas A&M University. He is active in industrial and professional organizations, having chaired symposia for Global Conferences on Process Safety (PPSS, inaugural PSM2 and subsequent), and is currently serving on the Technical Advisory Board for the MKOPSC. He holds a BSc in Metallurgical Engineering, a Master of Engineering Administration, and a PhD in Chemical Metallurgy. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Chemical Engineering, and was elected a Fellow of AIChE in 2014.
