Shishir PS Chundawat

I completed my bachelors at ICT-Mumbai (formerly called UDCT) and doctorate in chemical engineering at Michigan State University (under the supervision of Prof. Bruce Dale). I am currently working at the Great Lakes Bioenergy Research Center at Michigan State University, and have experience in the area of lignocellulosic biomass conversion, ammonia based pretreatments, cell wall characterization and enzymatic hydrolysis. I have been involved in characterizing the physicochemical effects of ammonia pretreatments and its impact on biologically-catalyzed biomass deconstruction. I am involved in the effort to characterize properties of novel cellulose allomorphs, their interaction with cellulolytic enzymes and development of next-generation ammonia based pretreatments to exploit this know-how.
